Walk the Island and AFD 2026

Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band Proud to Support Walk the Island and Armed Forces Day

Saturday was a busy and rewarding day for Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band as we had the privilege of supporting two fantastic community events across Portsmouth.

We began the day performing at this year’s Walk the Island, helping to cheer on participants as they took on the challenge in aid of two incredible local causes.

It was a privilege to be part of such a well-supported community event, with walkers showing incredible determination throughout the day. We hope our music helped provide a well-earned boost and kept spirits high along the route!

This year’s event is raising funds for two amazing Portsmouth charities:

Connor’s Toy Library – helping to build a new sensory room, creating an inclusive and engaging space for children and families.

Portsmouth Lifeguards (Portsea Rescue) – raising money to update their critical lifesaving equipment, ensuring they can continue protecting those using our local coastline.

After Walk the Island, we headed over to Southsea to support our friends at Rose & Thistle Pipes and Drums as they took part in the Armed Forces Day celebrations. It was an honour to perform as part of an event recognising the dedication and service of our Armed Forces community, and it was fantastic to spend the afternoon alongside fellow musicians and the many people who came out to support the celebrations.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in Walk the Island, thank you to the volunteers who gave up their time, and well done to the organisers of both events for putting together such successful days.

We’re incredibly proud to support our local community and always enjoy taking our music out across Portsmouth. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us—we’re already looking forward to the next one!
