Competition

Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band proudly competes in Grade 4B under the leadership of Pipe Major Rich Smith and Leading Drummer Tom Trimbee.

Following our debut competition season in 2026, the band has already established itself as a competitive and ambitious force, achieving an impressive set of results:

  • 4 × 1st Place – MSR Quartet
  • 1 × 1st Place – Mini Band March
  • 1 × 2nd Place – Full Band March
  • 1 × 2nd Place – Mini Band March
  • 2 × 3rd Place – March Quartet

These results reflect the hard work, commitment and dedication of every member, and mark an exciting beginning to our competition journey.

As we look ahead, we are actively recruiting experienced pipers, snare drummers, tenor drummers and bass drummers who share our ambition to continue growing and competing at an even higher level.

Rehearsals

Our competition band rehearses every Tuesday from 7:00pm at Trafalgar School, Portsmouth. In addition to weekly rehearsals, we hold monthly weekend practices throughout the season to support members who travel from further afield and to maximise our preparation for competitions.
